eaxya Kkunkf;us A Mangalam Gurudevaaya Mangalam Jnaanadaayine May the Divine Guru be auspicious to us; may the Bestower of wisdom be auspicious to us, may the Lord who manifested in Parthi be auspicious to us; may Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba be auspicious to us. A million lamps may be lighted by Suprabhatam means Good morning. Good morning to whom? For the Lord residing within us? Does the God Almighty sleep and get up in the morning like us? No. But it is only for awakening of awareness within us that Lord is residing within us. By residing within us He ends the night of ignorance and brings the Dawn of Auspiciousness every day. The takes us through the various places, various activities. i.e. Sadhanas to arouse the Divine consciousness latent within us. The recital of the Suprabhatam each day before commencing our daily duties, is the Sadhana to remind ourselves of the existence of the Lord within us. STORY RELATED Once upon a time, there ruled a king named Dheeraja in the city of Vinaspur. He had a lovely queen named Manasrani. She was very beautiful and an able person. But alas! She had one weakness. She was fickle minded and could not make a decision for herself. She always depended upon her minister, Rajodatta and Tamodatta. They were very wicked and always misled the queen. The king some how loved his wife so dear that he always did whatever she wanted and it was she who made decisions for him. The citizens of the country were very skillful and efficient. They were entirely under the control of the King and the Queen. Since they were guided to do evil wrong actions, they were always engaged in bad deeds. This led the country to a grave disaster. Not only were the people sorrowful but they made their surrounding sorrowful by their deeds. Now a time came when the whole country would have perished as a result of this. However, one day and what good fortunate day it was! There appeared a wise man in the country named Gurusen. He saw the plight of the people and at once came to know the root cause of the evil. The king having a large treasure of wealth was always under the impression that he was bankrupt. Because these ministers misguided him, he kept on levying taxes upon the people and thereby burdening them. In order to pay the king's dues the people had to turn to wrong means. What did Gurusen do? He only pointed out to the king the hidden treasure that belonged to him. He only revealed it. He uncovered the cloth that was put there by the ministers, Rajodatta and Tamodatta. At once the king understood the whole situation. Taking the advice of Gurusen, he put Rajodatta and Tamodatta into prison, all their activities now came to a standstill. The king even took complete charge over the queen. Now he never bent before the queen, but made her obey his command, at once the citizens were corrected. They already had virtues and skills, abilities and capabilities within them. As soon as they got the right guidance, they performed the right actions and soon the city of Vinashapuram became Avinashapuram, the most indestructible. No enemy from outside the city could do nay harm to anyone. All the people were happy and joyful. They also made their surrounding happy. (After reading this above story, you have to replace the characters with the right symbols). The City of Vinashapuram is our own body. The king is the Buddhi or the intellect. The queen is the mind. The wicked ministers are the Rajoguna and Tamoguna within us. The citizens are the five sense organs of action. That is the Jnanendriyas and Karmendriyas. The wise man is the Sadguru or one's own wisdom. The hidden treasure is the truth and the existence of the Lord within us. The moment one realizes the Lord's true existence within one, one feels satisfied and rich with His presence. As the intellect rules the mind and the Jnanendriyas and Karmendriyas, all thoughts, speech and actions are good and virtuous. But instead if the mind rules the intellect, one is led to disaster, as the mind is fickle and unsteady. If the mind is overpowered by Rajoguna and Tamoguna, then intellect is covered with the veil of Maya. Then it forgets the presence of the Lord within itself. Thus one does wrong deeds under the veil of Maya. INNER SIGNIFICANCE OF SUPRABHAATAM In the morning when we recite the Suprabhatam, we must keep this story before our mind and must realize that the Lord is there within us. It is He who is going to perform all the actions through our Indriyas. The actions should be such that they can be called Godly. Each time the child does any action or thinks of any thought, if he remembers that my Lord Sai is within me, and will He do such a thing as I am doing? Will He think such a thing as I am thinking? Then he will be guided towards the right action. As a new day begins in the morning, we should chant this Suprabhatam and remind ourselves of the existence of the Lord within us. Eswarambasuta refers to all of us. As we are all the divine children of Immortality. The place Puttaparti is our own body. The devotees eagerly waiting are the Indriyas. The fruits and the flowers are the offerings of our deeds. The women who are as pure as Seeta are feminine aspect of the power within each one of us as Inchha Shakti bPNk'kfDr Kriya Shakthi fdz;k'kfDr VicharaShakthi fopkj'kfDr Vak Shakti, okd'kfDr etc. Shakti signifies the feminine aspect. In this manner, if we try to awaken the Lord within us, that is, try to realize His presence, surely we will reach His abode which is resplendent with Kku , foKku , lqKku and izKku and thus we will be liberated. This is the message of the Supraphatam. |
