Love

We have learned so far in our exploration of the five Human Values that Love is the basis, the undercurrent, the sustenance of the other four Values of Truth, Peace, Right Conduct and Non-violence. By far, it is the most important ingredient in the educational mix for a child. Baba says:

Every man should recognize that the body has been given to him to render service. You must see the body for promoting the welfare of society. Of what use is the endless study of books if you do not use your knowledge for the good of others? A mind that is not utilized for imparting joy to others or a body that is not used for the service of others are totally useless. The best way to love God is to love all and serve all.

Divine Discourse, 19-1-1997

We can see from these few words that the reason for living is to love and serve. The Human value of Love defines the very meaning of our existence here as human beings.

The psychic domain of human system is the source of love. Love is the expression of the individual divine within and is the power of soul. It is the mightiest of forces in the world and is truly representative of human nature.

Love is not an emotion. It is a form of energy which each individual transmits and receives every moment. It affects all forms of life. It is a peculiar possession, which grows with sharing.

Love is the answer to the question; ‘What in me loves – What in another person’. It is the reflection of the same Truth that one loves. What to say of children, even animals and beasts responds to this power of love. Love helps us overcome the sense of fear by promoting better understanding and appreciation. Since Love springs from the Truth, it is in nature of Righteous Action and results in peace.

Love has to begin by manifesting itself towards parents and grow and graduate to include family, neighborhood, country and most of all God.

Love binds one person to another. Love attaches one thing to another. Without Love, the universe is naught. The highest Love makes us aware of the Lord in everyone. The Lord is equally present in all. Life is Love; Love is Life. Without God, deprived of God, nothing and nobody can exist. We live on and through the Divine Will. It is His Will that operates as Love, in each of us. It is He, who prompts the prayer, "let all the worlds be happy". For, He makes us aware that the God we adore, the god we live by is in every other being as Love. Thus love expands and encompasses all creation.
